Free consultation. We’ll look at your issue and give an honest quote. We first gauge the temprament of the bees, remove the bees in a safe manner, and place them in our apiary or with a non-profit organization like Hives for Heroes.

In most cases, we can replace any cutout walls for a reasonable hourly rate. If you need to hire a contractor for a complex repair, we’ll let you know.

DO I NEED to hire a bee removal specialist?
Are these honeybees, wasps, or bumblebees, or is it a traveling swarm of bees?
YELLOW JACKETS: These honeybee lookalikes live in the ground, usually at the base of shrubs. They are often confused with honeybees. They can be mean and aggressive and sting multiple times. If they are in a location where they are an issue, a licensed exterminator can help remove them.
This is a honeybee swarm moving into the cracks in a canale. Contact a beekeeper asap! If caught early, they can be easily removed. Once they are established in the wall, a removal specialist will need to be contacted.
This cavity was once filled with bees. Caught early, removing a small section of the wall and using a gentle vacuum, these bees were easily relocated.
Bees will enter into small holes leading into empty wall spaces. Once established, they quickly begin building honeycomb, the queen will begin laying eggs, and worker bees will begin gathering nectar and pollen for the hive. This is a live bee removal and requires a bee removal specialist.
BUMBLEBEES: They nest in the ground. They are generally docile until they are provoked. They can sting over and over. In the fall, they will lay a new queen which will hibernate throughout winter and the rest of the colony will die out. In the spring the new queen will hatch and move to another location. If they are in a location putting humans at risk, we can safely relocate the nest.
PAPER WASPS: These are pollinators. We can safely remove the nest without pesticides.
HONEYBEE SWARM: These are honeybees looking for a new home. Swarms are most active in March through May and are usually very calm. A volunteer beekeeper can safely capture them and put them in a beehive. In Albuquerque and surrounding areas, an ABQBeeks volunteer beekeeper can safely relocate them free. Donations accepted.

Community Outreach
Bee removals can be expensive. To save the bees and help the community, Bonsai Bees accepts donations to go toward removals for community members who need them and can’t always afford them. Ask us about our bee removal community fund.
We work with Hives for Heroes - a national nonprofit dedicated to pollinator conservation and purpose-driven healing for Veterans and First Responders. Founded in 2018 by a U.S. Marine who found recovery through beekeeping. Many viable rescued colonies are re-homed with beekeepers from this great organization.
